Union Square
Limited Edition Canvas Fine Art Print. Signed and numbered by the artist.

Edition of 75 After graduating from Philadelphia College of Art, Natasha moved to N.Y.C. Working primarily in art-related fields, she never stopped painting. Although she has had one-man shows in galleries in New York City, Greenport,LI, Kennett,MI and Memphis,TN, she espouses exhibiting in “alternative venues” including open studio tours, where one is more apt to attract the attention of a larger cross- section of the public and is able to interact on a more personal level. While working in her first studio at 41 Union Square West, the building that practically invented “open studios” in NYC, predating Soho by several years, she was in very good company. Isobel Bishop, Dorothy Dehner and Hank Virgona were friendly neighbors. It was also here with a studio overlooking Union Square, that Natasha was intrigued by the “organized chaos” of the Farmer’s Market. Perceiving intrinsic abstract qualities in the piles of produce led to an ever-evolving series of oils, watercolors and etchings. If asked to put a label to her style of painting, she would call it "conceptual realism". But she doesn’t like labels and would prefer to let the viewers make their own deductions. Her ultimate goal is to evoke a basic, familiar, responsive chord in the viewer, which would signify that the painting successfully captured the essence of its subject and stirred the imagination. Her next one-man exhibition will be at the James Beard Foundation,NYC. Nov/Dec 2008.
